Njengoba nje nalowaya mfula obonakala ungamanzana nje angatheni obhoboka eHlathini iNyungwe unqoba zonke izithiyo, ungashi naphezu kokushisa kwelanga lase-Afrika okukhipha umkhovu etsheni, ukhula ube umfula omkhulukazi, nabantu bakaJehova eRwanda baye bakhuthazela enkonzweni yabo kuNkulunkulu. Baye bamelela ushushiso oluvuthayo nobunzima obukhulu, baba umthombo wamandla nesikhuthazo kubafowabo nodadewabo emhlabeni wonke. Lo mbiko waseRwanda uzokuthinta inhliziyo lapho ufunda izindaba ezihawulayo zothando, ukholo nobuqotho. UKUKHANYA KUYALOKOZA

Wathi: “Ku-March walo nyaka [1970] amaphayona akhethekile amabili akwazile ukungena eRwanda aqala ukushumayela enhloko-dolobha iKigali. Athole ukuthi abantu banothando futhi bayasamukela isigijimi soMbuso, umuntu oyedwa onesithakazelo useqalile nasensimini. Aseqale izifundo eziyishumi phakathi kwabantu abayingcosana abakhuluma isiSwahili. Manje ashikashikana nokufunda isiKinyarwanda ukuze akwazi ukufakaza kubantu abaningi.”
La maphayona amabili akhethekile okukhulunywa ngawo kulo mbiko kwakungu-Oden Mwaisoba nomkakhe u-Enea baseTanzania. Ngenxa yokuthi babengakalwazi ulimi lwendawo, isiKinyarwanda, baqale bahambela abantu abakhuluma isiSwahili, abaningi babo ababedabuke eCongo noma eTanzania. Ngo-February 1971, kwakubika abamemezeli abane, kepha zazingekho izincwadi zethu ngesiKinyarwanda futhi inkinga yolimi yenza ukwanda kwangashesha.
UStanley Makumba, umbonisi wesifunda onesibindi owayekhonza eKenya, waya eRwanda okokuqala ngo-1974. Uyakhumbula: “Ayembalwa amabhasi ayesuka emngceleni we-Uganda neRwanda aye eRuhengeri, eRwanda. UBUYELA EKHAYA
UGaspard Rwakabubu, ongowokuzalwa eRwanda, wayengumakhenika ezimayini zethusi eCongo. Uyalandisa: “Ngo-1974 ngaya eSikoleni Senkonzo SoMbuso eKolwezi. Omunye wabafundisi, uMichael Pottage, wathi ihhovisi legatsha eKinshasa lifuna umdala waseRwanda ongathanda ukubuyela ezweni lenkaba yakhe ayosiza ngomsebenzi wokushumayela. Wabuza: ‘Awukwazi yini ukuba uFakazi KaJehova khona la? Kungani kumelwe ubuyele eRwanda?’ Ngisho nabanye abafowethu ababenezinhloso ezinhle bazama ukungivimba ukuba ngibuyele eRwanda. Bathi: ‘Unezingane ezine. Funda uLuka 14:28-30, uhlale phansi ucabange ngale ndaba.’ Asizange siwushintshe umqondo.
“Ubasi wami wakhokha zonke izindleko zokubuyela eRwanda ngendiza. Safika eKigali ngo-May 1975, saqasha indlu yodaka ewubhuqu phansi, eyayihluke kakhulu kule yenkampane esasinayo eyayinakho konke. Nokho, sasicabangile ngakho futhi sizimisele ukungabheki emuva.”
Njengoba amaphayona akhethekile akwamanye amazwe ayekhuluma isiSwahili, abantu abaningi bacabanga ukuthi la maphayona azofundisa sona. Kwashintsha lokho lapho kufika uGaspard nomkhaya wakhe ngoba bafundisa abantu iqiniso loMbuso ngeBhayibheli lesiKinyarwanda.
Ngaphezu kwalokho, uMfoweth’ uRwakabubu wahumushela incwajana enamakhasi angu-32 ethi “Lezi Zindaba Ezilungileyo ZoMbuso” olimini lwesiKinyarwanda. Yakhishwa ngo-1976 futhi yaba newozawoza. ABASERWANDA BAMUKELA IQINISO

Wayethanda abantu futhi wabhapathizwa ngo-1976, ehlala eSave, lapho inkosi yaseRwanda yayivumele izithunywa zevangeli ezingamaKatolika ukuba zakhe khona imishini ngo-1900. UJustin ukhumbula ukuthi abantu babenelukuluku lokwazi ukuthi iBhayibheli lifundisani ngempela. Kepha abefundisi babebazonda oFakazi BakaJehova, beyenqabela imihlambi yabo ukuba ibalalele noma yamukele izincwadi zabo.
UFerdinand Mugarura, umzalwane ophikelelayo, wayengomunye wabantu bokuqala eRwanda abamukela iqiniso. Ngo-1969, esahlala empumalanga yeCongo, wathola incwadi ethi IQiniso Eliholela Ekuphileni Okuphakade ngesiSwahili. IZITHUNYWA ZEVANGELI ZIYENQATSHELWA UKUNGENA
INdikimba Ebusayo, njengoba ihlale iphaphamele izidingo zensimu, yayabele izithunywa zevangeli eRwanda. Ngo-1969, kwathunyelwa lapha abafundi abane abaphothule ekilasini lama-47 le-Watchtower Bible School of Gilead.

Ngo-1976, neminye imibhangqwana emibili yabelwa eRwanda ngemva kokuphothula ekilasini lama-60 eGileyadi. Yavunyelwa ukungena, yaqasha indlu, yashumayela ngesibindi, yaqala nokufunda isiKinyarwanda. Lapho ama-visa abo ephelelwa isikhathi ngemva kwezinyanga ezintathu, uMnyango Wezifiki wenqaba ukuwavuselela, ngakho bathunyelwa eBukavu, empumalanga yeCongo.
“AYESEBENZA KANZIMA”
Maphakathi nawo-1970, amaphayona akhethekile aseTanzania naseCongo aqala ukulishiya elaseRwanda ngezizathu ezihlukahlukene. Abafowethu baseRwanda bona baqala ukuphayona nokwandisa umsebenzi wokushumayela. Kwathi ngo-1978 incwadi IQiniso namapheshana amabili kwahunyushelwa olimini lwesiKinyarwanda. Ngaphezu kwalokho, kwaphuma INqabayokulinda ephuma nyanga zonke. Lezo zincwadi zaba usizo emsebenzini wokushumayela ngoMbuso. Mayelana nalezo zinsuku zokuqala, isithunywa sevangeli uManfred Tonak wathi ngamaphayona aseRwanda: “Ayesebenza kanzima futhi echitha isikhathi esiningi ensimini. Abasanda kuhlanganyela babelandela isibonelo sawo.”
UGaspard Niyongira ulandisa indlela izindaba ezinhle ezazisakazeka ngayo ngalezo zinsuku. “Ngesikhathi ngibhapathizwa ngo-1978, kwakubethusa abefundisi ukubona abaningi kangaka bengena eqinisweni. Emihlanganweni yethu emikhulu kwakufika inqwaba yabantu. Lapho siphuma siyoshumayela, sasifana nesikhonyane! Ngemva kokuthiba indlala emini, babeqhubeka amakhilomitha angu-7 baye eMasaka, bese bebuyela eKigali ngebhasi kusihlwa. Amaqembu abamemezeli ayenza okufanayo kwezinye izindawo. Akumangazi-ke ukuthi ukushumayela kanje kwanikeza abantu umqondo wokuthi oFakazi BakaJehova bayizinkulungwane ngezinkulungwane. Ngenxa yalokho, saqala ukubekwa amabala, okwenza iziphathimandla zenqaba ukuba siqashelwe ngokomthetho.”
Njengoba babelishisekela iqiniso, abafowethu baseRwanda bafuna ukunambitha injabulo yokuhlangana nabafowabo bakwamanye amazwe. Ngakho ngo-December 1978, abamemezeli abangaba ngu-37 baseRwanda, kukhona nezingane, baya eNairobi, eKenya, badlula e-Uganda—ibanga elingamakhilomitha angaphezu kuka-1 200—beya eMhlanganweni Wezizwe othi “Ukholo Olunqobayo.” Kwakuwuhambo olunzima. Amaqiniso eBhayibheli nezindinganiso eziphakeme zokuziphatha zoFakazi azijabulisanga wonk’ umuntu. Abefundisi ikakhulu kwabanenga ukubona abantu abaningi bamukela iqiniso. UMfoweth’ uRwakabubu uyakhumbula: “Abaningi ababengamaKatolika, amaProthestani namaSabatha bathumela izincwadi zokwesula emasontweni abo. Omunye umzalwane wathi umphumela womsebenzi wokushumayela wawufana nomlilo othungelwe emasontweni. Ababeba khona emihlanganweni yeBandla LaseKigali banda ngokushesha badlula ku-200. Ekuqaleni abefundisi babenganakile ukuthi sikhona ngoba sasimbalwa. Kepha njengoba sasanda, abanye bathi siyingozi ezweni. Ngalesi sikhathi umbhishobhi omkhulu weSonto LamaKatolika eRwanda, uVincent Nsengiyumva, waba ilungu lekomiti yeqembu elibusayo.
“Njengoba sasanda masinyane, kwakudingeka siqashelwe ngokomthetho ukuze sikwazi ukungenisa izithunywa zevangeli, sakhe amaHholo OMbuso, sibe nanemihlangano emikhulu. Igatsha laseKenya lahlela ukuba u-Ernest Heuse waseBelgium athintane nawongqongqoshe bakahulumeni acele ukuba siqashelwe ngokomthetho, kodwa kwaba nhlanga zimuka nomoya. Kamuva, ngo-1982, ihhovisi legatsha laseKenya lasicebisa ukuba sibhalele uNgqongqoshe Wezobulungisa noWangaphakathi sicele ukuqashelwa ngokomthetho. Kwathi ngo-November 1982, uKiala Mwango nomkakhe u-Elaine bathunywa besuka eNairobi beyoqondisa imihlangano yesifunda eButare, eGisenyi naseKigali. UMfoweth’ uRwakabubu wayengusihlalo kule mihlangano. Wayesanda kuqeda ukukhonza umhlangano waseKigali lapho ebizwa okwesithathu ehhovisi likamongameli. Kodwa-ke kulokhu akabange esabuya! Zingakapheli izinsuku ezine, namaphayona amabili akhethekile ayesayine leya ncwadi yesicelo sokuqashelwa ngokomthetho aboshwa. Bobathathu bagqunywa ejele lingazange lithethwe icala noma baziphendulele. Nabanye baboshwa. IHholo LoMbuso lavalwa, kwabekwa imigoqo ezicabheni. UNgqongqoshe Wezobulungisa wabhalela izifundazwe incwadi evimbela oFakazi BakaJehova.
Ekugcineni, ngo-October 1983, kwaqulwa icala labazalwane abathathu ababesayine isicelo sokuqashelwa ngokomthetho. Inkantolo yababeka icala lokuwaka nokukhohlisa abantu—amacala angamanga. Akubanga nafakazi noma incwadi ewubufakazi ecaleni. Yize kunjalo, laba bazalwane abathathu bagwetshwa iminyaka emibili ejele. Lapho ababulali ababegwetshiwe benikwa ushwele futhi bededelwa emajele, laba bazalwane abathembekile ababoniswanga musa. EGisenyi, abanye oFakazi abahlanu babhadla ejele iminyaka ethi ayibe mibili bengagwetshiwe, kungekho namasamanisi avela enkantolo.
UKUPHILA KWASEJELE
Ukuphila kwasejele kwakukubi. Kwakudliwa kanye ngosuku, umdumbula nobhontshisi. Inyama yayidliwa kanye ngenyanga. UMfoweth’ uRwakabubu uyakhumbula: “Ngesikhathi sisejele, umbhishobhi omkhulu wenza iMisa ejele. Watshela ababekhona ukuba baqaphe oFakazi BakaJehova. Esehambile, amanye amaKatolika ayelapho asibuza ukuthi kungani umbhishobhi esho kanjalo ngoba ayebona ukuthi oFakazi BakaJehova abayona ingozi.”
Phakathi naleso sikhathi kwafika uRoger noNoella Poels eKigali bevela eBelgium. URoger wayeze ngomsebenzi. Laba bazalwane abathathu babesesejele, ngakho uRoger wacela ukubonana noNgqongqoshe Wezobulungisa achaze izinkolelo zethu futhi abuze ngomoya omuhle ukuthi kungani uhulumeni engabathandi oFakazi BakaJehova. Ungqongqoshe wavele wamnqamula ulimi, wathi: “Mnu. Poels, sekwanele okushilo! Uzongena endizeni elandelayo eya eBrussels. Phum’ uphele kuleli zwe!”
Njengoba laba bazalwane abathathu bengayekethisanga futhi bengangenwanga amanzi emadolweni, kwadingeka basidonse sonke isigwebo seminyaka emibili, nakuba ngowesibili bayiswa ejele elingcono. Badedelwa ngo-November 1984.
BAPHEKWA NGOBHOJWANA
Ukuphikiswa kwaqhubeka. Umsakazo wamemezela ukuthi oFakazi BakaJehova abantu ababi abeqisayo. Ngo-March 1986, base beboshwa yonk’ indawo. Phakathi kwababoshwa kwakuno-Augustin Murayi, okwakuthe ngenxa yokungathathi hlangothi kwakhe njengomKristu, waxoshwa esikhundleni sakhe sokuba umqondisi-jikelele woMnyango Wemfundo Yabaqalayo NeyaseSekhondari. Amaphephandaba amgxeka, umsakazo wona wamhlaba wamhlikiza.
Kulo lonke izwe kwaboshwa nabanye abafowethu nodadewethu, ngisho nabakhulelwe abanezingane ezincane. Ngasekupheleni kuka-1986, bayiswa ejele laseKigali belinde ukuthethwa kwecala. Ngenxa yokuthi abafowethu babengawaculi amaculo omzabalazo, bengalifaki ibheji likamongameli, bengalithengi nekhadi leqembu lezombusazwe, abantu baphetha ngokuthi oFakazi BakaJehova balwa nohulumeni futhi bazama nokuwuketula.
UPhocas Hakizumwami uyamomotheka lapho ekhumbula lokhu: “Abazalwane basebandleni eliseNyabisindu babephakathi kwababoshwa kuqala. Njengoba thina abanye sasilindele ukuboshwa noma nini, saqaphela ukuthi insimu yethu yayisizoshintsha ibe ngaphakathi ejele. Ngakho sanquma ukwenza umkhankaso omkhulu wokushumayela ensimini engaphandle. Saya ezimakethe sahambisa omagazini nezincwadi eziningi. Sathandaza kuJehova sicela ukuba asisize sihlanganise insimu yethu singakaboshwa. Wasisiza ngoba insimu yethu sayiqeda ngo-October 1, 1985. Ngemva kwesonto elilodwa, saboshwa.”
Ngonyaka olandelayo, uPalatin Nsanzurwimo nomkakhe uFatuma, baboshwa amaphoyisa oMbuso. Ngemva kokuphekwa ngemibuzo amahora angu-8 nokupeqululwa kwendlu yabo, baboshwa nezingane zabo ezintathu. Endleleni beya ejele, umfowabo omncane kaPalatin, owayelandela ngemuva, wathatha indodana yabo eneminyaka emihlanu nendodakazi eneminyaka emine. UPalatin noFatuma baboshwa kanye nengane yabo enezinyanga ezingu-14. Kamuva uFatuma wayiswa kwelinye ijele wahlala kulo kwaze kwaphela izinyanga ezingu-9.

UMfoweth’ uTshiteya uyakhumbula: “Njengoba abafowethu nodade babefika ejele laseKigali bevela kwamanye amajele, babebingelelana ngenjabulo, bethi ‘Komera!’ okusho ukuthi ‘Qina!’ Lapho omunye wonogada ekuzwa lokhu, wathi: ‘Niyahlanya nina! Abantu bangaqina kanjani ejele?’”

Lapho kuqala igagasi lokuboshwa kwabazalwane, uJean-Marie Mutezintare, owayesanda kubhapathizwa, wakwazi ukuya eMhlanganweni wezizwe okhethekile othi “Abagcini Bobuqotho” ngo-December 1985 eNairobi. Lapho ebuyela eRwanda, yena no-Isaie Sibomana, bathatha omagazini kubazalwane basentshonalanga ye-Uganda. Emngceleni, amaphoyisa abathola lab’ omagazini, abopha laba bazalwane aya kobaphenya ngemibuzo, abavalela esitokisini esibandayo. Bathunyelwa ejele laseKigali. Bafica abazalwane nodade abangaba ngu-140 abajabula lapho bezwa umbiko womhlangano waseNairobi. Ngokuqinisekile abakusho kwabakhuthaza abazalwane, kwabaqinisa!
Abazalwane nodade ababeboshiwe babeqhuba imihlangano bahlele nomsebenzi wokushumayela. Ngaphandle kokushumayela, babefundisa neziboshwa ukufunda nokubhala. Babefundela nabantu abathakazelayo, basize nabamemezeli abaningi ababesanda kuhlanganyela balungele ukubhapathizwa. Abanye babo babefundelwa ngesikhathi beboshwa kanti abanye babelithole ejele iqiniso.
UMBONISI WESIFUNDA UHAMBELA IJELE
Omunye wabazalwane uchaza okwakwenzeka ejele laseKigali ngo-1986: “Kwakunabazalwane abaningi. Sahlangana saxoxa ngendlela esasizosiza ngayo abazalwane ababengaboshiwe. Sanquma ukubabhalela incwadi yokubakhuthaza. Sabatshela ukuthi uma sesiyiqedile insimu yethu ejele, sizobuya. Sasishumayela embhedeni ngombhede ejele, siqhube nezifundo. Kamuva, lapho sizwa ukuthi umbonisi wesifunda wayehambela amabandla ngaphandle, nathi safuna ukuhanjelwa, ngakho sathandaza ngakho kuJehova. Ngokushesha ngemva kwalokho, uMfoweth’ uRwakabubu, owayengumbonisi wesifunda, waboshwa okwesibili. Sakubheka njengendlela yokuba akwazi ukusihambela.”

Umkakhe owayefundelwa wambuza ukuthi kungani ephike ukholo lwakhe. Kamuva lo mlisa wabhalela amajaji, ewazisa ukuthi wayenze iphutha nokuthi usengomunye woFakazi BakaJehova. Waze wabhalela nehhovisi legatsha eKenya waxolisa. Manje ukhonza uJehova ngokwethembeka.
UKUSHUMAYELA KUYAQHUBEKA NGAPHANDLE
Ababengaboshiwe baqhubeka beshumayela ngentshiseko, benza isilinganiso samahora angu-20 ngenyanga. U-Alfred Semali, owayengomunye wababengaphandle, uyakhumbula: “Nakuba ngingazange ngiboshwe, ngangikulindele futhi ngakulungiselela. Ngesikhathi ushushiso lubhokile ngo-1986, isilinganiso sabamemezeli ababikayo sasingu-435; cishe abangu-140 kulaba bafowethu nodade babekade beboshiwe. Lab’ oFakazi baba umgogodla wenhlangano kaJehova eRwanda. Ukholo lwabo ‘lwaluvivinyiwe.’—Jak. 1:3.
Ekugcineni, ngemva kweminyaka yawo-1980 eyayinezixakaxaka, amabandla eRwanda enkathini yokuthula nokwanda. Kodwa laliwaphatheleni ikusasa? Abaningi bamukela iqiniso. Ingabe nalaba abasanda kuhlanganyela babeyozibonisa bengabafundi abakhiwe ngezinto ezingashi? (1 Kor. 3:10-15) Ukholo lwabo lwaluyokwazi yini ukumelana novivinyo olwaluseza? Kwakuzobonakala ngokuhamba kwesikhathi.
IMPI NODLAME LWEZOMBUSAZWE
Ngo-1990, kwakunabamemezeli abakhuthele ababalelwa enkulungwaneni eRwanda. Kepha isimo kwezombusazwe sasicikiza, kwathi ngo-October, amabutho eRwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) agasela engxenyeni engasenyakatho yeRwanda evela e-Uganda engumakhelwane.
UFerdinand Mugarura, umzalwane onesibindi owayeboshelwe ukholo lwakhe kabili, wayehlala eRuhengeri ngesikhathi kuqala lokhu. Uthi: “Inzondo nokuqhosha ngobuzwe kwakubhebhetheka. OFakazi BakaJehova bona abathathanga hlangothi futhi bangabandlululana ngokobuzwe. Ngenxa yalokho, kwadingeka abanye babaleke emizini yabo, abanye balahlekelwa imisebenzi.”
Omunye udade onguthisha nomfelokazi onezingane ezintathu, wenqaba ukunikelela amasosha. Ngenxa yalokhu, uthisha-nhloko wamceba kubaphathi bamasosha, wayesevalelwa ejele okwesibili ngoba wayeboshiwe nangawo-1980. Lapho amabutho ahlaselayo efika edolobheni ayeboshwe kulo, ijele lagqekezwa, zonke iziboshwa zabaleka. Kunokuba lo dade abaleke nezinye iziboshwa, wahlala ejele. Lapho amabutho ahlaselayo ehoxa, waphinde waboshwa wayiswa ejele elikhulu eKigali. Elapho, wathandaza ecela ukwazi usuku lweSikhumbuzo ngoba wayengafuni simphuthele. Wamangala lapho kamuva ededelwa ngalo kanye usuku lweSikhumbuzo! Ngenxa yokungathathi hlangothi, walahlekelwa umuzi nomsebenzi, kodwa waba iphayona elishisekayo.
Ngenxa yokungenela kwamanye amazwe, ukuhlasela kwamabutho ayevela e-Uganda kwama kancane. Ngo-1991, kwathathwa izinyathelo zokwenza kube namaqembu amaningi ezombusazwe kuleli zwe. Kwakhiwa amaqembu amaningi amakhulu namaningana amancane, okwatshala umoya wokuziqhayisa ngesifunda somuntu nobuzwe bakhe. Amanye amaqembu ayenemigomo ekahle, kodwa amanye eyizishoshovu nontamo-lukhuni. Kwakuqala ukuba ukungathathi hlangothi koFakazi BakaJehova kwamukeleke. Ngenxa yokungathathi hlangothi ezimpini zezombusazwe nezezizwe, uhulumeni nabantu abavamile ababange besababheka njengezitha oFakazi.
Ngo-September 1991, ithimba labazalwane bakwamanye amazwe elaliphelezelwa abazalwane ababili baseRwanda—uGaspard Rwakabubu noTharcisse Seminega—lavakashela ongqongqoshe bakahulumeni abaqavile eKigali. Baxoxa noNgqongqoshe Wezobulungisa omusha, owabalalela ngozwela. Bambonga ngezinyathelo ezinhle ayesezithathile, bamkhuthaza nokuba abanike inkululeko ephelele engokwenkolo.
Ngo-January 1992, ngaphambi kokuba siqashelwe ngokomthetho, abafowethu baba nomhlangano wesigodi eKigali. UGodfrey noJennie Bint bayakhumbula: “Sasikhonza e-Uganda ngaleso sikhathi futhi samangala lapho sithola incwadi evela ehhovisi legatsha eKenya, isicela ukuba siye eRwanda amasonto amathathu siyosiza ngamalungiselelo omhlangano nangokuqopha amadrama. Abafowethu babephana ngendlela emangalisayo, njalo ngosuku sasimenywa umkhaya ohlukile ukuba sidle nawo. Kwakuqashwe inkundla yebhola lezinyawo futhi safika zibuya ngempela kwenziwa amalungiselelo. Abafowethu base behlelile ukuthi idrama izoqoshwa kanjani futhi kwahamba kahle naphezu kwemishini eyayingenele. Yize abafowethu abaningi basenyakatho yezwe bengayitholanga imvume yokuhamba nomngcele waseBurundi nase-Uganda uvaliwe, kwakukhona abangu-2 079 ngeSonto, kwabhapathizwa abangu-75.”
UKUQASHELWA NGOMTHETHO EKUGCINENI!
Ngemva kwezinyangana, ngo-April 13, 1992, umsebenzi woFakazi BakaJehova wagcina ubhaliswe ngokomthetho eRwanda—ngokokuqala ngqa. Wawusuphelile umshikashika wokumemezela izindaba ezinhle ngaphansi kokuvinjelwa, ukuhlukunyezwa nokugqunywa ejele. Abafowethu base bengabheka phambili enkathini entsha yokwanda ngokomoya.
INdikimba Ebusayo ayichithanga sikhathi yabela izithunywa zevangeli lapha. UHenk van Bussel, owayekhonza eCentral African Republic naseChad, noGodfrey noJennie Bint, ababekhonza eZaire (manje okuyiDemocratic Republic of the Congo) nase-Uganda, babeyizithunywa zevangeli zokuqala ezathola ama-visa okuba izakhamuzi. Kwamiswa iKomiti Yezwe eyayizoqondisa umsebenzi wokushumayela.
UMfoweth’ uBint uxoxa okwenzeka lapho befika okokuqala noHenk van Bussel: “Sathola umuzi okahle owawuzoba ikhaya lezithunywa zevangeli eduze kweHholo LoMbuso. Ngokushesha yithi labaya sesifunda isiKinyarwanda, sathola ukuthi sinzima impela njengoba namaphayona akhethekile okuqala ayesithole sinjalo ngo-1970. Enye yezincwadi zokusifunda yayinaleli cebiso: ‘Izinhlamvu CW uma zindawonye zibizwa ngokuthi TCHKW!’ Sikhumbula nokuthi udade owayesifundisa wathi, ‘Anisoze nambiza kahle u-“shy” egameni elithi “isi nshya” [umhlaba omusha] uma ningamomotheki!’”
Kamuva ngalowo nyaka, kwaba nenani elisha eliphakeme labamemezeli abangu-1 665, ngo-January 1993 kwaba nomunye umhlangano wesigodi eKigali. Kwaba khona abangu-4 498, kwabhapathizwa abangu-182. UKiala Mwango uyena owayeyisivakashi esivela egatsheni laseKenya. Akekho owayazi ukuthi esiqeshini sendawo engaphesheya komgwaqo uma usenkundleni yomhlangano kwakuyokwakhiwa ihhovisi legatsha ngo-2006.
Naphezu kokunye ukuhlasela kwebutho elivela enyakatho, alinciphanga ijubane lomsebenzi wokushumayela. Ngo-1993 kwase kusele amakhilomitha ambalwa ukuba ibutho elihlaselayo lifike eKigali. Imingcele yase-Uganda yayilokhu ivaliwe futhi budebuduze nenhloko-dolobha kwakuzwakala ukuqhuma kwezikhali. Abantu abangaba yisigidi babebalekile enyakatho yezwe. Kubona kwakunabafowethu nodade abangu-381, abanakekelwa abazalwane baseKigali nangakhona. Nokho, e-Arusha, eTanzania, kwenziwa isivumelwano sokubeka phansi izikhali, kwamiswa nendawo ezoba samngcele, nohulumeni wavuma ukubambisana namabutho ahlaselayo namaqembu ezombusazwe amaningana amakhulu namancane.
UMHLANGANO WOSUKU OLUKHETHEKE NGEMPELA!
Kwakuhlelwe ukuba umhlangano wosuku olukhethekile ube ngalowo nyaka eKigali Regional Stadium. Kodwa abaphathi bale nkundla babeqashisele neqembu lebhola—kwakuzoba nomdlalo webhola ngo-3:00 ntambama. Abafowethu baya esimisweni sasekuseni, kodwa singakaqali esantambama, kwafika abalandeli bebhola—amaphoyisa ahluleka ukubavimba bangangeni. Umphathi wenkundla wathi umdlalo uyoze uphele ngo-6:00 kusihlwa. Ngakho abafowethu bagoduka babuya ngo-6:00 bezoqedela isimiso.
Kwasikhathaza lokhu ngoba kwakunomthetho wewashi. Izimoto zazingavunyelwe ukuhamba ngemva kuka-6:00 kusihlwa nabantu babengavunyelwe ukuba ngaphandle ngemva kuka-9:00 ebusuku. Kodwa cishe ngo-7:00 kusihlwa, umsakazo wamemezela ukuthi sase sinwetshiwe isikhathi saya ku-11:00 ebusuku. Ngaphezu kwalokho, ugesi wawubuye uzihambele. Njengoba abaphathi benkundla babengayihloniphanga imithetho yokuqashisa inkundla, umphathi-dolobha waseKigali wahlela ukuba kube nogesi enkundleni. Waze wahlela nezinto zokuhamba zamahhala ezasetshenziswa abafowethu ngemva kwesimiso. Ngakho abafowethu bakwazi ukuwuqhuba wonke umhlangano. UGünter Reschke ukhumbula ukuthi wavakashela eRwanda ekupheleni kuka-September 1993. Uyakhumbula: “Igatsha laseKenya langithuma eKigali ukuba ngiyofundisa eSikoleni Senkonzo SoMbuso noMfoweth’ uRwakabubu. Babengu-63 kuphela abadala eRwanda ngaleso sikhathi nakuba abamemezeli base bande bafika ku-1 881. Isimo sase sishubile, sezwa ngabasiki bebunda ukuthi ibambene enyakatho. Akekho owayelindele izikhathi zosizi ezaziseza, kodwa lesi sikole saba ukudla okufike ngesikhathi. Saqinisa ukholo lwabadala, sabahlomisa njengabelusi, okuyinto eyayidingeka kakhulu njengoba amafu amnyama empi ayehlangana.”
KUHLELWA UKUBA KUBE NEHHOVISI
Ekupheleni kuka-March 1994, uLeonard Ellis nomkakhe uNancy bafika lapha bevela eNairobi beze emihlanganweni ekhethekile futhi bezosiza ehhovisi labahumushi. Igatsha laseNairobi lalituse ukuba ikhaya lezithunywa zevangeli nehhovisi labahumushi eRwanda kuhlangane. NgoMsombuluko ngo-April 4, eSifundweni Se-Nqabayokulinda kwaba khona iqembu labahumushi elase landile, iKomiti Yezwe, izithunywa zevangeli noMfoweth’ u-Ellis nomkakhe. Kwakuyisikhathi esijabulisayo—isiqalo sokwanda okwengeziwe.
Sebewuqedile umsebenzi wabo, uMfoweth’ u-Ellis nomkakhe bahamba ngendiza eyaba eyokugcina ukuphuma eKigali kwaze kwaba ngemva kwezinyanga eziningi. Ngakusasa ntambama, uMfoweth’ uRwakabubu washayela ucingo ekhaya lezithunywa zevangeli ethi ihhovisi lamanxusa aseRussia liyiyekile indawo esasifisa ukwakha kuyo ihhovisi lezwe. UKUQOTHULWA KOHLANGA KUYAQALA!
NgoLwesithathu kusihlwa ngo-April 6, kwadutshulwa indiza eduze kwaseKigali, yaphahlazeka yalanguka amalangabi. Yayithwele umongameli waseRwanda nowaseBurundi. Bonke bafela lapho. Bambalwa abantu abezwa ngalokho ngalobo busuku; umsakazo awuzange uyibike le ndaba.
Izithunywa zevangeli ezintathu—abakwaBint noHenk—abasoze bazilibala izinsuku ezalandela. UMfoweth’ uBint uyachaza: “Ekuseni ngovivi ngo-April 7, savuswa ubuqhuqhuqhu bezibhamu namabhomu esandla. Asixwayanga ngoba vele isimo sezombusazwe sasishube kabi kabi kulezo zinyanga. Kodwa sathi sisadla ekuseni, kwangena ucingo. U-Emmanuel Ngirente, owayesehhovisi labahumushi, wasitshela ukuthi emsakazweni kwakumenyezelwe ukushona kwalab’ omongameli ababili. UMnyango Wezokuvikela waxwayisa bonke abantu ngokuthi bangaphumi ezindlini.

BABHEKENE NEMPI NOKUFA

INDABA KAJEAN NOCHANTAL

BACASHA IZINSUKU EZINGU-75!
UTharcisse Seminega wabhapathizwa eCongo ngo-1983. Phakathi nempi, wayehlala eButare, eRwanda, eqhelelene neKigali ngamakhilomitha angaba ngu-120. “Sizizwa sibakweleta bonke abafowethu nodade ababa nendima ekusindeni kwethu ngezenzo zabo nangemithandazo esuka enhliziyweni. Siluzwile uthando lwabo olujulile noluqotho, olungazange luvinjwe ukubandlululana ngobuzwe.”
UKUSIZA UMSIZI
UJustin Rwagatore, omunye wabafowethu abasiza ekusindiseni umkhaya kaMfoweth’ uSeminega, kamuva naye wadinga usizo. Ngo-1986 wayeboshelwe ukwenqaba ukusekela inhlangano yezombusazwe eyayibusa. Eminyakeni ethile ngemva kokuvikela umkhaya kaMfoweth’ uSeminega, uJustin nabanye abazalwane baphinde baboshelwa ukungathathi hlangothi. UMfoweth’ uSeminega wayengomunye wabazalwane abaya eziphathimandleni beyocacisa ukuma koFakazi BakaJehova mayelana nokuhileleka kwezombusazwe. Wachazela iziphathimandla ukuthi uJustin wayesize umkhaya wakhe wasinda. Ngenxa yalokho, bonke abafowethu ababesejele badedelwa.
Isibonelo sabafowethu phakathi nokuqothulwa kohlanga sashukumisela abanye ukuba bamukele iqiniso. USuzanne Lizinde, umKatolika oneminyaka engaba ngu-65, wabona isonto lakhe lisekela ukuqothulwa kohlanga. Ukuziphatha koFakazi BakaJehova endaweni ahlala kuyo phakathi nokuqothulwa kohlanga nothando ababenalo lwamenza wathuthuka ngokushesha. USuzanne wabhapathizwa ngo-January 1998 futhi akakaze aphuthe emhlanganweni webandla, ngisho noma kwakudingeka ahambe amakhilomitha amahlanu emagqumeni ukuze abe khona. KUBALEKA AMAKHULU EZINKULUNGWANE

Ngaphezu kwalokho, iningi lababaleki abangebona oFakazi lalisekela inhlangano eyayiketulwa. Lalingabathandi oFakazi BakaJehova, ikakhulu i-Interahamwe, ngoba babengazange bathathe uhlangothi. Ngesikhathi kusenababaleki abasuka eKigali, uFrancine, owayebalekele eGoma ngemva kokubulawa komyeni wakhe u-Ananie, wayiswa kwelinye lamakamu ayemiswe oFakazi. Uchaza ukuphila kwakulelo kamu: “Abafowethu nodade bababelwa ukulungisa ukudla usuku ngalunye. Sasidla ukudla okulula ekuseni okwakuhlanganisa amabele noma incumbe. Sasilungiselela nokudla kwasemini. Uma siqeda ukusebenza, sasikhululekile ukuya enkonzweni yasensimini. Sasishumayela ikakhulu kumalungu emikhaya esasihlala nawo ekamu ayengebona oFakazi nakulabo abahlala ngaphandle kwekamu. Bamemezela ukuthi kuzoba nomhlangano wosuku olukhethekile eGoma, kwenziwa nezingqwembe zomhlangano. OFakazi babe sebetshelwa ngasese ukuthi kuhlelwa ukuba baphindele eRwanda. Ukuze bangasolisi, bayalwa ukuba bashiye zonke izinto zabo emakamu bahambe nje namaBhayibheli abo namaculo njengokungathi baya emhlanganweni.
UFrancine ukhumbula ukuthi bahamba isikhathi eside baze bafika emalolini ayezobayisa emngceleni. Lapho befika eRwanda, uFrancine wakwazi ukuya emhlanganweni wesigodi eNairobi. Njengoba ayesethole induduzo ngemva kokushonelwa umyeni wakhe futhi esekhuthazwe abafowethu nodade, uFrancine wabuyela ehhovisi labahumushi elase limiswe kabusha eKigali. Kamuva washada no-Emmanuel Ngirente futhi bayaqhubeka bekhonza ehhovisi legatsha.
UFrancine wakwazi kanjani ukubhekana nobuhlungu ngesikhathi sempi? Wathi: “Ngaleso sikhathi yinye kuphela into esasizitshele yona—kumelwe sikhuthazele kuze kube sekugcineni. Sanquma ukungagxili ezintweni ezimbi ezazenzeka. Ngikhumbula ngithola induduzo kuHabakuki 3:17-19 okhuluma ngokuthola injabulo lapho usebunzimeni. Abafowethu nodade bangikhuthaza ngempela. Abanye bangibhalela izincwadi. Lokhu kwangisiza ngalondoloza isimo sengqondo esiqondile ngokomoya. Ngakhumbula ukuthi uSathane unamaqhinga amaningi. Uma sigxila ohlotsheni olulodwa lwezinkinga, singase sinqotshwe olunye. Uma singaqaphile, singahlaseleka ngandlela-thile.”
UKUPHINDELA ERWANDA
UMfoweth’ uVan Bussel wabasiza kakhulu abazalwane ababebuya. Uyachaza: “Kwamiswa isimiso sokusiza abafowethu ukuba basimame ngokomnotho ngemva kwempi, kuhlanganise nalabo abasala eRwanda balahlekelwa cishe yikho konke ababenakho. Abazalwane abamisiwe bavakashela wonke amabandla beyohlola izidingo zawo. Imikhaya nabantu ngabanye banikezwa amaphasela ezinto abazidingayo. Abafowethu babeqonda ukuthi ngemva kwezinyanga ezintathu kuzodingeka bazitholele indlela yokuziphilisa.”
Zazinakekelwa nezidingo ezingokomoya zabafowethu. Iqembu labahumushi laphindela lapho lalikhona ekuqaleni eKigali. UMfoweth’ uVan Bussel ukhumbula ukuthi leyo ndlu eyayikade iyihhovisi yayinezimbobo zezinhlamvu, kodwa eziningi zezincwadi edepho zazisekhona. Kwaphela izinyanga belokhu bethola izinhlamvu emabhokisini ezincwadi. Omunye wabahumushi waze wathola ngisho nebhomu engadini! Ngonyaka olandelayo, cishe ngo-October 1995, iqembu labahumushi lathuthela kwesinye isakhiwo esikhudlwana okusebenzeka kangcono kuso. Lesi sakhiwo esasiqashiwe sasetshenziswa njengehhovisi nendawo yokuhlala kwaze kwakhiwa ihhovisi legatsha elisha ngo-2006.
“KWAKUSENGATHI ISIKHATHI SOVUKO!”
Ngawo-December 1994, iningi labafowethu lase lisukile eCongo ukuze libe khona emhlanganweni wesigodi owawunesihloko esifanelekayo esithi “Ukwesaba UNkulunkulu.” Wawuzoba segcekeni lelinye lamaHholo OMbuso eKigali. Kweza abafowethu abavela eFrance, eKenya nase-Uganda. NgoLwesihlanu ekuseni kwakugcwele abafowethu ehholo. Omunye udade uyakhumbula: “Kwakuthinta inhliziyo ukubona abafowethu nodade bangana, kwehla izinyembezi emehlweni abo. Babebonana okokuqala kusukela ekuqaleni kwempi. Babehlangana nabangane ababecabanga ukuthi bafile!” Omunye wathi, “Kwakusengathi isikhathi sovuko!”
UGünter Reschke wayephakathi kwezihambeli zaseKenya. Wathi: “Yeka injabulo esasinayo ngokuphinde sihlangane ngemva kobunzima, sibone ababesindile! Nokho, kwakunenkinga. Iziphathimandla zazingathandi kube nesixuku sabantu abahlangene kanje. Emini yantambama kwafika amasosha athi ngenxa yokwesabela ukulondeka, awusezukuba khona umhlangano. Njengoba manje kwakunesilinganiso esithile sokuthula ezweni, abantu abaningi abadabuka eRwanda ababehlala kwamanye amazwe baphindela khona. Kwafika nabanye ababezalelwe kwamanye amazwe ngemva kokuba abazali babo bebaleke kuwo phakathi nezinxushunxushu zobuzwe nezombusazwe ngasekupheleni kwawo-1950 nawo-1960. Ngo-1998 ngamenyelwa eBethel lapho ngikhonza khona manje nomkami, u-Emerance. Ngililindele ngokulangazela izwe elisha, lapho konke ukucwasa nobandlululo kuyophela futhi umhlaba uyogcwala abantu ababiza igama likaJehova abahlala ndawonye ngobunye.”
UMSEBENZI UYAQALA FUTHI
Ngo-March 1994, ngaphambi nje kwempi, kwakunabamemezeli abangu-2 500 eRwanda. Ngawo-May 1995, kwafinyelelwa inani elisha labamemezeli abangu-2 807 naphezu kokuba abaningi babebulewe ekuqothulweni kohlanga. Abantu abaqotho bathutheleka enhlanganweni kaJehova. Ngokwesibonelo, omunye udade oyiphayona elikhethekile wayeqhuba izifundo zeBhayibheli ezingaphezu kuka-22, ezinye wazilindisa, ezobuye aziqhube! Umbonisi wesifunda wachaza, “Impi yasiza abantu babona ukuthi ukuphishekela izinto ezibonakalayo kuyize.”
Ngo-January 1996 abafowethu baba noMhlangano Wesigodi ‘Wabadumisi Abajabulayo.’ Kwaba umhlangano omnandi! Njengoba owangonyaka owawandulele wawuhoxisiwe, lona kwaba umhlangano wokuqala ngemva kwempi. Omunye owayekhona wathi, “Abafowethu babangana, bechiphiza izinyembezi futhi kwakuhlaba umxhwele ukubona abazalwane abangamaHutu namaTutsi begonana.” Ababekhona babengu-4 424, kwabhapathizwa abangu-285. UMfoweth’ uReschke uyakhumbula: “Kwakuthinta inhliziyo ukuzwa abayobhapathizwa bephendula ngo-‘Yego!’ (yebo) ozwakalayo emibuzweni emibili yobhapathizo. Bashaya ujenga enkundleni sebeyobhapathizwa, bemanzi nté ngoba laliyithela. Babengenandaba nalokho. Babethi, ‘Ingani sisazongena emanzini vele!’”

INDODANA YABO YALAHLEKA YATHOLAKALA!

Lapho u-Oreste ephuma eyofuna ukudla, kwaphinde kwalwiwa, walahlekelwa indodana yakhe kuleso siphithiphithi.
Ngemva kwempi, u-Oreste nomkakhe baphinde bahlangana, kodwa babengakayitholi ingane yabo. Baphetha ngokuthi ibulewe. Nokho, ngemva kweminyaka engaphezu kwemibili, umlisa wasemaphandleni, owayengeyena uFakazi, wathuthela eKigali eze ngomsebenzi. Kuyaphawuleka ukuthi abafowethu bazinakekela zonke izingane ezashonelwa abazali abangoFakazi. Azikho ezayiswa emakhaya ezintandane. Ngezinye izikhathi abazalwane babenakekela izingane eziyizintandane zomakhelwane noma zezihlobo. Omunye umbhangqwana owawunezingane eziyishumi wawunakekela izintandane eziyishumi.
KUPHINDE KUBA NEZINXUSHUNXUSHU ENYAKATHO
Ngasekupheleni kuka-1996, impi yombango eCongo yakwenza kwaba nzima kakhulu ukuwagcina elondekile amakamu ababaleki, ayesenababaleki baseRwanda abangaphezu kwesigidi. Ngo-November, ababaleki baphoqeleka ukuba baphindele eRwanda noma babalekele emahlathini aseCongo. Iningi labuya, kuhlanganise nabafowethu ababengazange babuye ngo-December 1994. Azilibaleki izindimbane zabantu, abasha nabadala, ezazihamba emigwaqweni eKigali zigqoke izingubo ezigcwele izintuli, zithwele imithwalo emakhanda. Bonke labo babaleki kwadingeka baphindele lapho bedabuka khona, baphinde babhaliswe. Abezokuphepha babegade yonk’ indawo.
Ngeshwa, ziningi izigelekeqe ezabuya nababaleki, kuhlanganise nezinye izidlamlilo ze-Interahamwe, ezazama ukuqhubeka nomsebenzi wazo enyakatho yezwe. Ngenxa yalokho, kwathunyelwa ibutho amasosha khona ukuze ayogada. Abafowethu abaningi babehlala lapho futhi kwakuyinselele enkulu ngabo ukungathathi hlangothi. Abamemezeli abangaphezu kwekhulu balahlekelwa ukuphila kwabo phakathi kuka-1997 no-1998, ikakhulu ngenxa yokulondoloza ngobuqotho ukungathathi hlangothi kobuKristu. Ngezinye izikhathi, kwakuyingozi kakhulu ngababonisi besifunda ukuba bahambele amabandla.
UMBHANGQWANA ONESIBINDI
UThéobald Munyampundu nomkakhe uBerancille, wayengomunye wababonisi besifunda abambalwa abahambela amabandla asezindaweni ezingaphephile. Kwakungekusha kubo ukuhlala endaweni eyingozi. UThéobald wabhapathizwa ngo-1984, ngemva kweminyaka emibili wagqunywa ejele nabafowethu nodade abaningi, wabhaxabulwa kabuhlungu. Yena nomkakhe babebeke ukuphila kwabo engozini ngokufihla abanye phakathi nokuqothulwa kwamaTutsi. Ngemva kokusindisa umfana onina wayebulewe empini, bawelela eTanzania. Ngesikhathi belapho, uThéobald wavakashela amakamu amabili eBenaco naseKaragwe ukuze akhuthaze abafowethu, nakuba ukuhamba emakamu kwakuyingozi kakhulu ngoba kwakunabaphangi.
Lapho sebephindele eRwanda, uThéobald nomkakhe baphinde babeka ukuphila kwabo engozini ukuze bavakashele oFakazi esifundazweni esasineziyaluyalu sasenyakatho-ntshonalanga yezwe. “Ngezinye izikhathi amabandla esasiwavakashela ayekude,” kusho uThéobald. “Ngenxa yokuthi kwakungalondekile, sasingakwazi ukulala khona. Ngikhumbula ukuthi ngesinye isikhathi kwakudingeka ukuba zonke izinsuku sihambe amahora amane siya noma sibuya ekuhambeleni abafowethu ngezikhathi zezimvula, bese sibuyela ekhaya kusihlwa.”
UThéobald wachaza omunye umfowethu ahlangana naye lapho evakashele iqembu elingalodwa kuleyo ndawo: “UJean-Pierre uyimpumputhe, kodwa ngamangala lapho ngimbona eyonikeza inkulumo yokufundwa kweBhayibheli eSikoleni Senkonzo Esingokwasezulwini futhi ewusho ngekhanda umBhalo ayewabelwe ngaphandle kokwenza iphutha, ehlonipha nazo zonke izimpawu zenkulumo! Wayecele omunye umzalwane owayengumfundi omuhle ukuba amfundele kusengaphambili ukuze awubambe ngekhanda. Ukuzimisela kwakhe kwangikhuthaza ngempela.”
Lapho ecabanga ngokuphila kwakhe okunenjongo nokwakulengela egodini ngezinye izikhathi, uThéobald uthi: “Phakathi nazo zonke lezo zikhathi ezibucayi, sabeka ithemba lethu kuJehova futhi sicabanga njalo ngamazwi akweyamaHebheru 13:6: ‘UJehova ungumsizi wami; ngeke ngesabe. Umuntu angangenzani?’” Ngemva kokukhonza ngokwethembeka esifundeni nasesigodini, yena nomkakhe baqhubeka bekhonza njengamaphayona akhethekile naphezu kwezinkinga zempilo.
UKWAKHIWA KWEHHOLO LOMHLANGANO
Njengoba inani loFakazi lalikhula, kwakuba nzima nakakhulu ukuthola izindawo ezifanelekayo zemihlangano emikhulu eKigali. Ngokwesibonelo, ipayipi lamanzi elaqhuma lakhipha indle ejele eliseduze laphazamisa uMhlangano Wesigodi ‘Wezithunywa Zokuthula KukaNkulunkulu’ owawusenkundleni ethile ngo-December 1996. Abafowethu bakhalaza ngephunga, abazali besabela impilo yezingane zabo. Ngenxa yalezi zimo ezimbi, iKomiti Yezwe yanquma ngazwilinye ukuthi lo mhlangano wesigodi wawuyoba owokugcina ngcí abayoke babe nawo kule nkundla. Kodwa yayizoqhutshelwaphi imihlangano?
UMnyango Wezindawo Zokuhlala wanikeza elinye lamabandla aseKigali indawo elalizokwakha kuyo ihholo loMbuso. Yayinkulu kunalokho okwakudingeka, futhi ukube abafowethu bathumela amapulani eHholo LoMbuso kuphela, cishe abomnyango odabula amazwe babezoyinikeza omunye umuntu indawo esele. Ngakho bethembele kuJehova, bathumela amapulani eHholo LoMbuso neHholo LoMhlangano elingadle ngabukhazikhazi, befuna nokwakha elinye iHholo LoMbuso kamuva. Iziphathimandla zawamukela lawo mapulani.
Abafowethu bayilungisa indawo bafaka nothango. Izisebenzi zokuzithandela eziningi zasusa ukhula, zagenca nezihlahlana futhi zemba imigodi ejulile yezindlu zangasese. Manje base benendawo enhle eyehlelayo, okuyindawo enhle yokuqhubela imihlangano.
Ezinyangeni ezalandela, abafowethu baba nemihlangano emibili emikhulu nokhethekile kule ndawo, kodwa iziphepho ezinamandla nemvula kwaphoqa ababekhona ukuba babalekele koseyili nasezambuleleni. Ngenxa yalokho, kwacelwa eNdikimbeni Ebusayo ukuba kwakhiwe iHholo LoMhlangano elivulekile emaceleni elingadle ngabukhazikhazi.
Ngo-March 1998, iNdikimba Ebusayo yanikeza imvume yokuba kwakhiwe iHholo LoMhlangano. Amalungiselelo aqalwa masinyane. Abafowethu ababili baseRwanda babephothule eSikoleni Sokuqeqeshela Inkonzo (manje esibizwa ngokuthi iSikole SeBhayibheli Sabazalwane Abangashadile) eKinshasa, eCongo, eqhele ngamakhilomitha angaba ngu-1 600. Nokho, njengoba kwase kunempi eCongo, kwaba nzima kakhulu ngabantu baseRwanda ukuba baye eKinshasa. Ngenxa yalokhu, iNdikimba Ebusayo yagunyaza ukuba kuqhutshwe iSikole Sokuqeqeshela Inkonzo eKigali. KUQHUMA INTABAMLILO EMPUMALANGA YECONGO
Ngo-January 17, 2002, intabamlilo iNyiragongo, eqhele ngamakhilomitha angaba ngu-16 ukusuka eGoma empumalanga yeCongo, yaqhuma futhi iningi labantu bakuleyo ndawo kwadingeka libaleke. Abamemezeli abaningi kwabangu-1 600 babaleka nezingane zabo nabantu abathakazelayo bawela umngcele baya eGisenyi, eRwanda, uma befika khona bayiswa emaHholo OMbuso aseduze.
Ngosuku olulandelayo abafowethu basehhovisi legatsha laseRwanda balayisha izinto eziyizidingo, ezihlanganisa ukudla, izingubo nemithi elolini elingamathani amathathu. Zathunyelwa ngokushesha emaHholo OMbuso ayisithupha asendaweni eseduze komngcele waseCongo.
Ngenxa yezizathu zokulondeka, uhulumeni waseRwanda wawesaba ukuvumela abantu abaningi kangaka baseCongo ukuba bahlale emaHholo OMbuso, wathi abayiswe emakamu ababaleki. Abazalwane beKomiti Yegatsha YaseRwanda bahlangana eGoma namalungu amabili eKomiti Yegatsha YaseCongo nabadala ababili basemabandleni aseGoma ukuze banqume ukuthi bazokwenzenjani. Abafowethu baseCongo bema kwelokuthi abafuni abafowabo baye emakamu ababaleki aseRwanda. Ngahamba nomakhelwane bami saya lapho amasosha eRPF ayevimbe khona umgwaqo. Lapho engibona njengoba ngingimHutu, ngibhandishwe nekhanda, acabanga ukuthi ngingomunye wezidlamlilo. Asimemeza: “Phakathi kwenu lapho kunababulali nabaphangi, kepha nithi nifuna usizo! Obani kini abacashise amaTutsi noma bawavikela?” Ngawatshengisa umama nezingane engangizifihlile. Abuyisela izingane eceleni, azibuza: “Ubani lo baba obhandishe ikhanda?” Zathi: “Akayena owe-Interahamwe; unguFakazi KaJehova.” Ngangimsindisile lo mama ongumTutsi nezingane zakhe, manje bona base besindisa mina!
