Questions From Readers

Who “the chosen angels” that 1 Timothy 5:21 talk about?

The apostle Paul write to his fellow elder Timothy: “I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the chosen angels to observe these instructions without any prejudice or partiality.”—1 Tim. 5:21.

First, who them this verse not talking about? It clear that it not talking about the 144,000. Why we say so? The time Paul write to Timothy, the resurrection for anointed Christians to go to heaven not even start yet. During that time the apostles and other anointed Christians not take their spirit body yet. So that not them the Bible call “the chosen angels.”—1 Cor. 15:50-54; 1 Thess. 4:13-17; 1 John 3:2.

Also, “the chosen angels” that not the angel dem who disobey God during the Flood. This angel dem wor on Satan side and they became Jesus enemies. That them the Bible call demons. (Gen. 6:2; Luke 8:30, 31; 2 Pet. 2:4) In the future, Jesus will put them in the abyss for 1,000 years. Then they and Satan will be destroy together.—Jude 6; Rev. 20:1-3, 10.

“The chosen angels” that Paul talk about must be angels in heaven who working with God and Jesus Christ.

They get plenty faithful angels. (Heb. 12:22, 23) And we must not think that all of them can do the same work at the same time. (Rev. 14:17, 18) Remember, one time Jehovah use only one angel to kill 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. (2 Ki. 19:35) But plenty other angels get the work “to collect out from [Jesus’] Kingdom all things that cause stumbling and people who practice lawlessness.” (Matt. 13:39-41) Some of them there to “gather his chosen ones together” to go to heaven. (Matt. 24:31) Jehovah can use some angel dem ‘to guard us in all our ways.’—Ps. 91:11; Matt. 18:10; compare Matthew 4:11; Luke 22:43.

The angel directing the brother and his wife to one house in the field service. The man inside the house praying.

Maybe “the chosen angels” that 1 Timothy 5:21 talk about, that the angel dem who having special assignment to take care of God people. Because of this, Paul gave wise counsel to those in the congregation to respect the elder dem. The elder dem too must not pick and choose when they doing their work. And also, they must not make decision without thinking about it good-good. One good reason why they must follow Paul advice that because they acting “before God and Christ Jesus and the chosen angels.” So it clear that Jehovah assign some angel dem to take care of the congregation. They can protect the congregation, help them in the preaching work, and give report to Jehovah.—Matt. 18:10; Rev. 14:6.
