SONG 76 How Does It Make You Feel?

How We Can be Kind When We Teaching People the Truth from the Bible?

“ Jehovah, the God of truth.”—PS. 31:5.

WHAT THE MAIN POINT?

We will learn how we can talk with other people about the truth from the Bible in the way da will benefit them.

1. Wetin we mon do to be part of Jehovah family?

WHEN we meet our brother and sister dem for the first time, one of the thing we can want know da how they come in the truth. Some people can say they wor born in the truth. And other people can say they just coming in the truth. We can answer da way because the truth from the Bible can direct the way we live our life. Why we say da one? Because we know da we can only be part of Jehovah family if we show da we love the truth and apply it in our life. One way we can do it da to be honest in what we say and what we do.—Ps. 15:1-3.

2. (a) Wetin people knew about Jesus? (b) How people wor coming act when they hear the thing dem Jesus wor teaching?

2 Jesus use to always talk the truth. Even his enemy dem knew da he use to always talk the truth, even though they not use to like what he use to say. (Matt. 22:16) Jesus tell his disciple dem how people wor coming act when they hear the thing dem he wor teaching. He say: “I come scatter family. To make son go against his pa, daughter against her ma, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” (Matt. 10:35) Jesus wor not happy for people to not like the message he and his disciple dem wor preaching, but he knew da it wor coming happen. (Matt. 23:37) He knew da some people wor coming like his message and some people wor not coming like it.—2 Thess. 2:9-11.

3. Wetin we will talk about in this article?

3 Like Jesus, we can try hard to always talk the truth, even though it will make some people to not like us. And we can preach and teach the truth from the Bible, even though it will make some people to get vex with us. But you think this one mean da we mon not be careful about how we say the truth and what time we say it? No! Da the reason why in this article, we will first answer this important question: Where we can find the truth? After da we will answer this question: Why, how, and what time we mon tell other people the truth from the Bible? When we find the answer to this question dem, it will help us to be kind when we telling people the good news. It will also help us to say it the right time.

WHERE WE CAN FIND THE TRUTH?

4. Why we can say da Jehovah the truth coming from?

4 Da Jehovah the truth coming from. All the thing dem he can say da true. For example, the thing dem he say about what right and what wrong da true. (Ps. 19:9; 119:142, 151) Everything he can say about the future, it can happen. (Isa. 55:10, 11) He can always do what he promise. (Num. 23:19) In fact, it not possible for Jehovah to lie! (Heb. 6:18) So it make sense when the Bible say Jehovah da “the God of truth.”—Ps. 31:5.

5. Why it not hard to know “the God of truth”? Explain. (Acts 17:27)

5 Some people say it hard to know Jehovah, “the God of truth.” But they not saying the truth. All the thing dem around us prove da he real. (Rom. 1:20) When Paul wor talking to one group of Greek people in Athens who know plenty book, he say da God want us to “find him” and da “he not far off from each one of us.” (Read Acts 17:27.) In fact, Jehovah can bring people who looking for the truth close to him.—John 6:44.

6. What some truth dem we na learn from the Bible and why we happy to know them?

6 One way we can know Jehovah da by studying the Bible. Da God holy spirit direct the men dem who write the Bible. (2 Pet. 1:20, 21) So everything the Bible say da true, and we can trust it. For example, we can trust the thing it say about how the heavens and the earth start and how life start on earth. (Gen. 1:1, 26) We can believe what it say about why all of us can sin and why we can suffer and die. (Rom. 5:12; 6:23) We can trust the Bible when it say da Jehovah will use his Son to finish all the problem dem da Satan, “the pa for the people who can lie” bring on us. (John 8:44; Rom. 16:20) And we can also trust the Bible promise when it say da Jesus will destroy the wicked people, resurrect people, make the earth paradise and help us to be perfect. (John 11:25, 26; 1 John 3:8) Da wonderful privilege Jehovah na give us! He na teach us the truth, and he na give us the opportunity to teach other people the truth.—Matt. 28:19, 20.

WHY WE CAN TELL PEOPLE THE TRUTH FROM THE BIBLE

7-8. You think our reason for telling people the truth from the Bible, important? Give example. (Mark 3:11, 12) (Also see the pictures.)

7 From the beginning of this article, we learn da we mon always talk the truth if we want be part of Jehovah family. But da not only talking the truth can make Jehovah happy. The reason why we can talk the truth, important to Jehovah. Let see what happen to Jesus the time he wor preaching on earth. (Read Mark 3:11, 12.) When Jesus wor preaching near the Sea of Galilee, plenty people come around him. Some people among them who wor having demon fall down in front of Jesus and tell him say: “You the Son of God.” Why the demon dem talk the truth about Jesus? Maybe they wanted the people who wor listening to them to trust them. And also to make the people to stop serving Jehovah. Da true the demon dem talk but they wor not having good reason for doing it. But Jesus know the reason they wor doing it, and he wor not happy with it. In fact, Jesus stop the demon dem from preaching about him.

8 Wetin we can learn from this story? Our reason for talking the truth, it important to Jehovah. So it really important da we mon teach people the truth about Jehovah because we love him. And if other people try to praise us for the message we preach, we mon give the praise to Jehovah!—Matt. 5:16; compare Acts 14:12-15.

Two pictures showing two different ways the sister conducting Bible study with the young woman. 1. The sister lay the Bible down and she talking plenty about herself. 2. The sister get the Bible open in her hand and she showing her Bible student one scripture.

When you teaching the truth, who you mon give the praise to? (See paragraphs 7-8)

9. Wetin we mon not do and why?

9 Let see another way we mon try to not bring praise to ourself. Imagine da one responsible brother tell us something da we suppose to keep to ourself, then we tell other people about it. If the people we tell find out da the thing we tell them da true, maybe it will make them to admire us. And they will even start thinking da we always get plenty information da other people not get. And this one will even make them to start thinking da we really important. But Jehovah will not be happy with us. (Prov. 11:13) Why? Da because even though what we tell them da true, but it wor not our business to tell them. And we wor having the wrong reason for talking the truth.

HOW WE MON TELL PEOPLE THE TRUTH FROM THE BIBLE

10. What “gracious” speech mean? (Colossians 4:6)

10 Read Colossians 4:6. The apostle Paul tell the Colossian Christian dem da their speech mon “always be good.” Wetin it mean? The Greek word they use here mean da our speech mon help people, it mon also be kind and it mon be something da good to hear.

11-12. Why we mon be careful when we teaching the truth? Give example. (Also see the pictures.)

11 When we teaching other people the truth, we mon apply what Paul say to be kind. The Bible compare the truth dem da inside it to sharp sword da can divide our soul and spirit. Da mean it can show to ourself and other people how we really feeling and our real reason for doing things. (Heb. 4:12) But if we not use the Bible the right way, we will make people to get vex or argue with us for nothing. How it can happen?

12 Think about this example. Maybe we meet one man in field service who really show interest. But he can always pray to image and he can enjoy celebrating Christmas and Easter with his family. Maybe we use the Bible to show the man da it wrong to pray to image because it not get life. We also prove to him from the Bible da Christmas and Easter come from false religion. (Isa. 44:14-20; 2 Cor. 6:14-17) If we tell the man all this thing dem the first time we talk with him, da the truth we will be telling him. But we will not be using the Bible the right way.

Two pictures showing two different ways the brother and his wife preaching to one man to his door. And the man family inside decorating Christmas tree. 1. The brother and his wife showing the man one article on jw.org da get the title, “What Does the Bible Say About Christmas?” The man fold his hand in his chest and his face tie. 2. The brother and his wife showing the man one article on jw.org da get the title “How to Be a Good Dad.” The man listening and he smiling.

How you can teach the truth the right way? (See paragraphs 11-12)a

13. How we can season our words with salt?

13 Paul also say da our word mon be season with salt. He not mean we mon hide the truth or make it be looking different. But he wor encouraging us to use kind words so da when we teaching people the truth, it can touch their heart. And we mon say it the way people will want listen to it. (Job 12:11) Sometime it can’t be easy to do this one. For example, we can feel da any food da taste good in our mouth, it will also taste good in other people mouth. Da the same way sometime we can be feeling da everybody like the way we can talk. But da not true. For example, in some culture, people can just say what in their heart, even when they talking to older people. But in some other culture, when you talk to older people like da, they will feel da you not get respect for them. Paul also say da we mon know how we “should answer each person.” This one mean we mon make sure da what we say mon not only be how we or people in our culture like it. But it mon be the way the people who listening to us will like it.

WHAT TIME WE MON TELL PEOPLE THE TRUTH FROM THE BIBLE

14. When Jesus wor on earth, you think he teach his disciple dem everything he know? Explain.

14 Jesus always use to be kind when he talking with his disciple dem and he teach them plenty things. (Mark 6:34) But they wor still having plenty thing dem to learn. Jesus not teach them everything he know. He knew his disciple dem limit and he knew da it wor not the right time for them to learn certain truths. In fact, he tell them da they wor not coming be able to understand everything one time. (John 16:12) Wetin we can learn from this one?

15. You think it good to teach our Bible student everything we know one time? Explain. (Proverbs 25:11) (See also picture.)

15 Jesus example show da knowing the truth not mean da we mon teach everything we know one time. How we can follow Jesus example? We mon think about people situation. Let go back to the example about the man who can enjoy celebrating Christmas and Easter with his family. We know this celebration dem come from false religion and Jehovah not like it. Now imagine da you start studying the Bible with the man one or two week before Christmas. You think it will be kind for us to show him what the Bible say about Christmas and expect him to stop celebrating it right away? Da true, some people can be quick to apply anything they learn from the Bible. But for other people, it can take time for them to change the way they can think and act. So we can help our Bible student dem to change the way they can think and act if we tell them what they need to know the right time.—Read Proverbs 25:11.

The same brother and his wife, studying the “Enjoy Life Now and Forever!” brochure with the man to his house. The Christmas tree near them.

Follow Jesus example when you deciding wetin you mon teach and what time you mon say it (See paragraph 15)

16. How we can help our Bible student dem to “go on walking in the truth”?

16 When we help people to learn the truth about Jehovah, it can really make us happy. We can help them to “go on walking in the truth” if we do this thing dem: Continue to set good example for them. (3 John 3, 4) Make sure da the way you live your life will show da you believe the promise dem da in the Bible. Also make sure da you get the right reason for teaching people the truth. When you teaching people the truth from the Bible, you mon use kind words and say it the right time. And if other people try to praise you for the message you preach, you mon give the praise to Jehovah. When you do it, you will prove da you serving Jehovah the God of truth.
