We Must Not Be Selfish Like People in the World

Plenty people today feel that they must treat them special way. No matter how people treat them special, they can still feel that they suppose to get more. We can see this kindna thinking in plenty people today, and that how the Bible say people will behave in the last days.—2 Tim. 3:2.

Selfishness that not new thing. Adam and Eve decide to choose for their self what wor good and what wor bad. And because of that, all of us suffering today. Another example that King Uzziah of Judah. He wor thinking that he wor having the right to burn incense in the temple, but it wor wrong for him to do it. (2 Chron. 26:18, 19) That the same way the Pharisees and the Sadducees wor feeling that God suppose to treat them special way, because they wor Abraham children.—Matt. 3:9.

We living among people who selfish and feel that they too important. And when we not careful, their attitude can affect us. (Gal. 5:26) Maybe we will start thinking that we suppose to get certain privilege, or people must treat us special way. How we can avoid this kindna thinking? First, we must try to know how Jehovah feel about it. Let look at two Bible advice that will help us.

That Jehovah can decide what we suppose to get. Let look at some examples.

  • In the family, Jehovah want for the husband to feel that his wife respect him, and the wife must feel that her husband love her. (Eph. 5:33) Marry people suppose to receive the love that only husband and wife can show to each other. (1 Cor. 7:3) Parents get the right for their children to obey them, and children too get the right for their parents to take care of them and show them love.—2 Cor. 12:14; Eph. 6:2.

  • Jehovah say we must respect our hardworking elder dem in the congregation. (1 Thess. 5:12) But the elder dem not get the right to control their brother and sister dem.—1 Pet. 5:2, 3.

  • God na give the government dem the right to collect tax and get respect from the people they ruling over.—Rom. 13:1, 6, 7.

Jehovah na gave us more than what we suppose to get. Because we not perfect, we suppose to die. (Rom. 6:23) But Jehovah na gave us plenty blessings because he love us. (Ps. 103:10, 11) He give us this blessing dem not because we suppose to get it, but because he kind to us.—Rom. 12:6-8; Eph. 2:8.

WETIN CAN HELP US TO NOT BE SELFISH AND TAKE OURSELF TOO IMPORTANT?

Be careful with the way people in the world can think. Sometime we can start thinking that we suppose to get more than other people without even knowing it. Jesus use one example to show how it can be easy to start thinking like that. In this example, each worker suppose to get one denarius. Some people started working soon in the morning and they work the whole day under the hot sun. Other people just work for one hour. The first group started thinking that they suppose to get more money because they work pass the other people dem. (Matt. 20:1-16) Jesus wor teaching his deciple dem that, they must be satisfy with anything that God give them.

Some of worker dem in Jesus example complaining to their boss man.

The men dem who work the whole day wor thinking that they suppose to get more money

Be thankful and don’t feel that other people force to do good for you. (1 Thess. 5:18) Follow the apostle Paul example. Even though he wor having the right to ask his brother and sister dem in Corinth to support him, but he not do it. (1 Cor. 9:11-14) So we must be grateful for anything that somebody give us and not feel that the person force to do it.

The apostle Paul not force his brother dem to take care of him

Be humble. When somebody feel that they too important, they can always think that they suppose to get more than what they get. But if we humble, it will help us to not think like that.

Collage: 1. The prophet Daniel old now. 2. The city of Babylon. 3. The time Daniel wor young and his three Hebrew friend dem.

Daniel continue to be humble, and that what made Jehovah to love him

The prophet Daniel wor humble and that good example for us. He wor from good family, he wor fine, clever, and hardworking. This thing dem could make him to feel that all the things he wor enjoying and the privilege dem he wor having, that something he suppose to get. (Dan. 1:3, 4, 19, 20) But Daniel continue to be humble, and that what made Jehovah to love him.—Dan. 2:30; 10:11, 12.

So let try to not be selfish and feel that we too important like people in the world. But let continue to be happy with anything that Jehovah giving us because he kind.
