BIBLE PHRASE

“Forgiving the Sins That Occurred in the Past”

Jehovah can only forgive our sins through Jesus ransom sacrifice. (Eph. 1:7) But the Bible say: “God in his tolerance was forgiving the sins that occurred in the past,” it mean, before Jesus gave the ransom. (Rom. 3:25, ftn.) How Jehovah was able to forgive sins before Jesus pay the ransom and at the same time be the God of justice?

Jehovah promise that he was coming provide one “offspring” who was coming save people that will put faith in Him. When he made that promise it was just like Jesus finish paying the ransom. (Gen. 3:15; 22:18) God was really sure that his Son was coming give the ransom the time He wanted him to do it. (Gal. 4:4; Heb. 10:7-10) When Jesus was on earth, Jehovah gave him the authority to forgive sins before Jesus pay the ransom. So Jesus was able to forgive the sins of people who put faith in him because he knew that his sacrifice was coming cover their sins.—Matt. 9:2-6.
