Why We Need the Ransom?

1-2. Why we need somebody to free us? (Romans 7:​22-24) (Also see the picture.)

THINK on this situation: House break down on one man and he hitch under it. He still living but he not able free hisself from there. So he start yelling, hoping da somebody will come help him.

² All of us looking like da man. Why we say this one? When Adam disobey Jehovah, he become sinner. Later on, he give his sin to his children dem. Because of da, all of us get sin da we not able to free ourself from just like the man we talk about who hitch under the house da break down. Like da man, we ourself too need somebody to free us. In the letter Paul write to the Romans, he explain how we can feel because we sinner. (Read Romans 7:​22-24.) He ask this question: “Who will save me from this body da dying like this?” The sin Paul get from Adam wor coming make him to die. (Rom. 6:23) All of us in the same situation. We need somebody to free us!

3. How the ransom can free us?

³ After Paul talk about the situation he wor in, he also say something da give us hope. Paul ask this question: “Who will save me from this body da dying like this?” After he ask the question, he hisself answer and say: “I thank God because he use our Lord Jesus Christ to save me!” (Rom. 7:25) Paul wor talking about Jesus ransom sacrifice.a Because of the ransom (1) Jehovah can forgive our sins, (2) he give us hope for the future, and (3) we can get good friendship with him. In this article, we will learn more about this point dem. And we sure da it will help us to get more love for Jehovah “the God who can give hope.” (Rom. 15:13) We will also be more grateful to Jesus because of the sacrifice he make.—Col. 1:14.

JEHOVAH CAN FORGIVE OUR SINS BECAUSE OF THE RAMSON

4-5. Why all of us need the ransom? (Ecclesiastes 7:20)

⁴ We need the ransom so da Jehovah can forgive our sin. All of us can make mistake in what we say and what we do. (Read Ecclesiastes 7:20.) Some sin dem can really be serious. For example, the Law da Jehovah give to Moses say da any Israelite who commit adultery or kill somebody, they mon kill them. (Lev. 20:10; Num. 35:​30, 31) Even though some sin dem not serious, but sin da sin. For example David say: “I will guard my step to avoid sinning with my tongue.” (Ps. 39:1) This one just show da sometime we can even commit sin by the thing dem we can say.—Jas. 3:2.

⁵ You na ever say something to somebody then later on you feel bad about why you say it to the person? Or you na ever feel bad because you make certain mistake? All of us na say or do something da we regret later on. The Bible say: “If we make the statement, ‘We have no sin,’ we are misleading ourselves and the truth is not in us.”—1 John 1:8.

6-7. Wetin make it possible for Jehovah to forgive our sins? (Also see the picture.)

⁶ The ransom make it possible for Jehovah to forgive our sins. (Eph. 1:7) But it not mean he can be happy when we commit sin. In fact, Jehovah not want us to commit sin. (Isa. 59:2) Because Jehovah fair, he do something so da he can get good reason to forgive our sins.

⁷ The Law da Jehovah give to Moses say da the Israelite dem wor suppose to sacrifice animal for Jehovah to forgive their sins. (Lev. 4:​27-31; 17:11) The animal sacrifice dem just show da human being needed Jesus sacrifice da wor better pass da one. And da Jesus sacrifice wor coming bring plenty blessing to human being. Jesus sacrifice give Jehovah good reason to be able to forgive our sins. Paul understand what Jesus death wor coming do for human being. So when he wor writing to the Christian dem in Corinth, he talk about some bad-bad thing dem they use to do before. Then he tell them say: “God na use his spirit to make yor clean. He na make yor holy, and he say yor righteous people in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.”—1 Cor. 6:​9-11.

8. Wetin you mon think about before you attend the Memorial this year?

⁸ Before you attend this year Memorial, take your time to think about how your life na get better because Jehovah na forgive you. For example, if you commit sin before and you repent, you not need to be feeling guilty because the ransom make it possible for Jehovah to forgive you. It hard for you to believe da Jehovah na forgive your sin? Maybe you na tell yourself say: ‘I know da Jehovah can forgive, but I can’t forgive myself.’ If da how you feeling, then remember da Jehovah the one who can forgive and he na give his Son Jesus the power to judge people. Jehovah not give you or any other human being the right to decide who he will forgive or who he will not forgive. The Bible say: “If we are walking in the light as [Jehovah] is in the light, . . . the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:​6, 7) We trust this one the same way we trust other thing dem the Bible say. Because of the ransom, Jehovah get good reason to forgive us. And the Bible say he “ready to forgive.”—Ps. 86:5.

THE RANSOM GIVE US HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

9. Beside doing bad things, what sin also mean? (Psalm 51:5 and footnote)

⁹ In the Bible, “sin” not only mean the bad thing dem we can do. But it also mean the bad condition we get from Adam. (Read Psalm 51:5 and footnote.) Because of this condition, sometime we can think about bad things or do bad things. It can also make it our body can’t work the way it suppose to work. Da the reason why we can get sick, grow old and die. Da the same reason why young baby who not commit any sin can even get sick and die. It also help us to know why bad people and good people can suffer and die. All of us in this bad condition because of the sin we get from Adam.

10. How Adam and Eve wor feeling after they sin?

¹⁰ Just think about how Adam and Eve wor feeling after they commit sin and they wor not perfect again. Right after Adam and Eve sin, they wor feeling bad because they spoil Jehovah Law. (Rom. 2:15) Right away they start feeling da something wor wrong. So they cover part of their body and they start hiding theirself from Jehovah just like criminal. (Gen. 3:​7, 8) Da wor the first time for Adam and Eve to feel guilty, shame and worry. And they wor coming be feeling like da until they die.—Gen. 3:​16-19.

11. Because we not perfect, how it can make us feel?

¹¹ Because we not perfect, we too can feel guilty, shame and worry like Adam and Eve. It can also make us to feel pain and be discourage. Even if we try hard to make our life better and avoid problem, we will always get problem da we not able to solve on our own. Why? Because from the time Adam and Eve sin, the Bible say da human being will always be having problem. (Rom. 8:20) And this one da true because all of us can see it happening today. For example, plenty people na try hard to end war and violence. And they na try to fix this earth and help people live better life. But with all this one, they not able to solve this problem dem. Only the ransom can help. But how the ransom can free us from this condition?

12. What hope we get because of the ramson?

¹² Because of the ransom, we get hope da “the thing dem [Jehovah] made will not be slave to sin and death again.” (Rom. 8:21) This one mean da after Jehovah make us perfect in paradise, we will not get sick or feel discourage again. And we will not feel guilty, shame or worry again. Beside da one, Jesus the “Prince of Peace” who die for us, will be ruling. He will help human being to solve all the problem dem da they not able to solve on their own.—Isa. 9:​6, 7.

13. Wetin else you mon think about before you attend the Memorial this year?

¹³ Think about how life will be looking when everybody on the earth will be perfect. You will wake up every day and be feeling good. You and your people dem will not worry about hunger, sickness or death. Now-now, you can even be happy if you take your time to think about the hope you get for future. (Heb. 6:​18, 19) When you always think about da hope, it will make your faith strong and it will help you to bear any problem you going through now-now. Yes, you can be sure da Jehovah will be “the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him.” (Heb. 11:6) Da only the ransom make it possible for us to get comfort now-now and real hope for the future.

WE CAN GET GOOD FRIENDSHIP WITH JEHOVAH BECAUSE OF THE RAMSON

14. From the time Adam and Eve sin, wetin happen to our friendship with Jehovah?

¹⁴ From the time Adam and Eve sin, human being wor not able to get close friendship with Jehovah. In fact the Bible say all of us wor enemy to God. (Rom. 8:​7, 8; Col. 1:21) Why? Because Jehovah da perfect God and he can’t ignore sin. See what the Bible say about Jehovah. It say: “Your eyes are too pure to look on what is evil, and you cannot tolerate wickedness.” (Hab. 1:13) Because of sin, the friendship between we and Jehovah spoil. The only way anybody can get good friendship with Jehovah again da to fix the friendship da spoil. And da only the ransom make it possible.

15. How Jehovah wor satisfy with the ransom, and what wor the result?

¹⁵ The Bible say Jesus da “propitiatory sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 2:2) The Greek word they use for “propitiatory sacrifice” can mean “to be satisfy with something.” How Jehovah wor satisfy with the ransom? It not mean da Jehovah wor satisfy for his Son to die. But he wor satisfy with the ransom because it in line with his standard for justice. So now, he wor having good reason for peace to be between he and human being again. (Rom. 3:​23-26) It make it possible for Jehovah to call faithful people righteous even before Jesus come on the earth and die. (Gen. 15:​1, 6, ftn.) How? Because Jehovah wor really convince da his Son Jesus wor coming pay the ransom. (Isa. 46:10) The ransom make it possible for human being to get good friendship with Jehovah again.

16. What another thing we mon think about before we attend the Memorial this year? (Also see the picture.)

¹⁶ Think about how your life na improve because you get good friendship with Jehovah. For example, Jesus teach us to call Jehovah our “Father.” And maybe da how you can call him. (Matt. 6:9) Sometime, you can even call Jehovah your “Friend.” When we use word dem like “Father” or “Friend,” we mon show da we get deep respect and we humble. Why? Da because we sinners and it not possible to serve Jehovah on our own. Da only the ransom make it possible for us to even make friend with Jehovah. Through Jesus, Jehovah make it possible for us to get good friendship with him again. (Col. 1:​19, 20) And da the reason why we can get good friendship with Jehovah now-now even though we not perfect.

THE RANSOM PROVE DA JEHOVAH GET SORROWFUL HEART

17. How the ransom prove da Jehovah get sorrowful heart? (Ephesians 2:​4, 5)

¹⁷ The ransom prove da Jehovah “really get sorrowful heart.” He “bring us back to life even though we . . . die in our sins.” (Read Ephesians 2:​4, 5.) “Those who wor having good heart and wanted to live forever” start begging for help because they know da they in sin and they need somebody to free them from it. (Acts 13:48) So Jehovah help them by making them to learn the good news about his Kingdom so da they can know him and his Son, Jesus. (John 17:3) If Satan wor thinking da because Adam and Eve sin it wor coming stop Jehovah from doing what he say, then he wor really wrong.

18. When we thinking on the ransom, wetin we mon remember?

¹⁸ Even though it good for us to think on the benefit we will get because of the ransom, we also need to remember the main reason why Jehovah provide the ransom. Da true, Jehovah give the ransom to save us, but the main reason Jehovah provide the ransom, da to answer Satan because of all the thing dem he say in the garden of Eden. (Gen. 3:​1-5, 15) Because of the ransom, Jehovah prove da all the bad-bad thing dem Satan say about him da so-so lie. Also, he free us from sin and death because he God who love us. And because of his special kindness, even though we sinner, Jehovah can allow us to prove da all the thing dem Satan say about him, da so-so lie. (Prov. 27:11) How we can show da we grateful for the ransom? We will answer this question in the next article.
