The Kingdom Divide

So long Solomon worship Jehovah, peace wor in Israel. But Solomon marry plenty women from different-different countries, and this women dem wor worshiping false gods. Solomon started changing small-small. Then he start worshiping false gods too. Jehovah wor vex. So, He tell Solomon say: ‘I will take the kingdom from your family and divide it into two. I will give the big part of the kingdom to one of your servants, then your family will only rule the small part.’

Jehovah make his decision clear in another way too. One of Solomon servants, Jeroboam, wor traveling on the road when he saw the prophet they call Ahijah. Ahijah tear his own clothes in 12 pieces and tell Jeroboam say: ‘Jehovah will take the kingdom of Israel from Solomon family and divide it into two. Take ten pieces because you will be king over ten tribes.’ When King Solomon hear about it, he wanted to kill Jeroboam! So, Jeroboam run away to Egypt. Later on, Solomon die and his son Rehoboam become king. Then Jeroboam feel da it wor safe now for him to go back to Israel.

The elder dem in Israel tell Rehoboam say: ‘If you treat the people good, they will be faithful to you.’ But Rehoboam young friend dem tell him say: ‘You mon hold them with iron hand and make them to really work hard!’ Rehoboam follow the advice his young friend dem give him. And he wor bad to the people. So, they people disobey. They made Jeroboam king for the ten tribes, and they call it the kingdom of Israel. Then they call the other two tribes the kingdom of Judah, and the people stay loyal to Rehoboam. The 12 tribes of Israel wor divided now.

Jeroboam never wanted his people to go worship in Rehoboam Kingdom in Jerusalem. You know the reason? Jeroboam wor scare da his people will turn against him and support Rehoboam. So, he made two golden cows and tell his people say: ‘Jerusalem too far. So yor stay here and worship.’ The people started worshiping the golden cow dem and they forget about Jehovah again.
